豬農抗議

Angry over the government’s plan to conditionally lift an import ban
on US beef containing ractopamine residues,
thousands of pig farmers converged in Taipei yesterday
and pelted the Council of Agriculture building with eggs and pig excrement,
as some clashed with the police deployed outside the government complex.

昨天 成千上萬的養豬戶 聚在台北

對政府計劃-有條件解除含有萊克多巴胺美牛進口禁令 憤怒不已，

他們對農業建設委員會 投擲雞蛋和豬糞，

在政府部門外 跟一些警方起衝突。

 

Many of the protesting farmers chanted anti-US beef slogans
and held English-language placards that read:
“President, dare you say no to USA?”

許多抗議的農民高呼反美牛肉的口號，

並舉起英文標語牌，上面寫著：

“總統，你敢對美國說不?”

 

The Executive Yuan announced on Monday night
that it plans to lift a ban on US beef
containing traces of ractopamine, a lean-meat additive.
Pig farmers fear that lifting the ban
could spark widespread health concerns
that would affect consumption of other meat products
and undermine their livelihoods.


豬農對行政院在週一晚上的宣布擔心，

行院計劃解除美國牛肉含有微量的萊克多巴胺，瘦肉添加劑的禁令。

豬農擔心，解禁可能引發廣泛的健康問題

也會影響到其他肉類產品的消費型態

和破壞他們的生計。
