The US Department of Agriculture confirmed on Tuesday
that there was a BSE case in California.

The government yesterday vowed to carefully monitor developments
following the discovery of a case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE),
also known as mad cow disease, in a dairy cow in the US on Tuesday.
It said it would take appropriate action
once all the necessary information had been received.
美國政府昨日宣誓要仔細監測
美國奶牛的瘋牛病 又稱牛海綿狀腦病
等收到所有必要的信息後，會採取適當的行動。
“As soon as we obtain comprehensive information from the US
and see how other countries are reacting, we will thoroughly
review our import policy,” Executive Yuan spokesman said.
行政院發言人說:
“只要我們從美國獲得全面的信息和其他國家的反應後，
我們會徹底檢討我們的進口政策”。
